Interaction with high blood pressure medication | The amount of the natural carrageenan polysaccharide in Pacific Seamoss is about 25%. The total amount of carrageenan in 2.5 gm of Pacific Seamoss is therefore very low. Carrageenan seems to reduce blood pressure (hypertension). Monitor your blood pressure, especially if you are taking hypertension medicines such as captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others. Interactions with medicines by mouth | The carrageenan in Pacific Seamoss is a gel and may interact with oral drugs. Take the tablets at least one hour after any medication. |
Interactions with Anticogaulant / Antiplatelet drugs | Carrageenan "might" slow blood clotting. Avoid medications that also slow clotting as the combination might increase the chances of bruising and bleeding. Medications that slow blood clotting include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam, others), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Anaprox, Naprosyn, others), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, warfarin (Coumadin), and others. Seaweed contains approximately 11% of RDA (RDI) of Potassium. Advise your doctor if you are taking other medications, even though Pacific SeaMoss is a food and generally regarded as safe. |
Allergenic warnings | Do not consume if you have a seafood allergy. While we take every precaution, seaweed is grown in the ocean and it may be there are tiny molluscs or shellfish that are not removed during the harvest and cleaning process.
